nutritious protein-rich food substitute for 

patients at his Battle Creek Sanitarium. 

At the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904, 


peanut butter became popular and made 

the transition from medical food to a 

snack and for flavoring for home baking. 

It has evolved over WWI, The Great 

Depression, WWII, and modern times, 


and is still going strong!

with apples and a hard pastry crust which was 

often too hard to eat. Later, European settlers, 

who brought apple seedlings from Asia, 

grew apples there and it became a common 

dessert dish, which can have add-ons infinitum!
