Created by Kellogg's intern William Thilly 

and introduced in 1965 as 'Apple O's,' 

it was 

renamed 'Apple Jacks' in 1971.  

In 1998 the 

green O-shaped pieces were added, and 

later, more colors,

and in 2004 the mascots CinnaMon and Bad Apple were introduced.

People really bonded with

CinnaMon

Bad Apple!
