introduced in 1953 



by Kellogg's as 

"Sugar Smacks," noted for its high 

sugar content of 56%. 


The name changed to 


"Honey Smacks" in the 1980s 


to downplay the sugar, 


and it has undergone 


several mascot changes.

enjoyed during special occasions.

and introduced in 1965 as 'Apple O's,' 


it was 

renamed 'Apple Jacks' in 1971.  



In 1998 the 

green O-shaped pieces were added, and 

later, more colors,



and in 2004 the mascots CinnaMon and Bad Apple were introduced.
